Covid today Germany, 44,401 infections and 104 deaths

Coronavirus in Germany, fewer infections detected for the last 24 hours but weekly incidence still increasing: the new infections reported today are 44,401 (compared to 67,125 yesterday), a difference attributed by the German health authorities to the lowest number of tampons carried out over the weekend. The discounted balance of confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 5,761,696, of which 837,200 are active. The deaths in the last 24 hours were 104, for a total of 100,883 deaths. The incidence over seven days per 100 thousand inhabitants is 446.7 cases, against 444 the day before. Two cases were registered in the Omicron variant country, found in two people from South Africa. The two, who landed in Munich, have been in isolation in Bavaria since 25 November, when they tested positive for a PCR test.
