Omicron variant, royals of Belgium postpone their visit to Italy

The spread of the Omicron variant is scary. The Belgian royals have postponed their official visit to Italy, scheduled for early December. This was announced in a note from the Belgian Royal House, specifying that the decision was agreed with the Italian authorities and linked to the “deterioration of the health situation in Belgium and Europe”. The visit was scheduled for December 1st to 3rd and would see the arrival in Italy of King Philip, Queen Mathilde and some ministers. King Philip will, however, be in Rome on 1 December for a short visit during which he will meet President Sergio Mattarella.
