The first day of the season before started badly for the French biathletes but ended with a podium. After the disappointing race of the French women earlier, Simon Desthieux grabbed third place in the individual on Saturday, November 27 in Östersund, Sweden.

The event was won by the Norwegian Sturla Laegreid, winner of the small individual globe last year, followed by his compatriot Tarjei Boe. Among the French, Quentin Fillon-Maillet finished 8th, Fabien Claude 11th while Emilien Jacquelin, author of six faults, inherited 35th place, despite a strong performance on skis.
