Branislav Gröhling: Ministry is for safer schools – Pluska.sk

“The goal of all of us is to keep schools safe and open because we know this is the best learning environment for students,” Gröhling said before the state of emergency was approved. After deciding that children could go to school despite the lockdown, a wave of criticism arose about their safety against the infection, which they could then spread to their parents and grandparents. Gröhling responded quickly and today should introduce a system to protect children.

Gröhling first revealed that he had both positive and negative reactions to his promotion of open schools. “Thank you to everyone who was vaccinated,” said Gröhling. According to him, they are closely monitoring the coronavirus situation in schools. It is said that up to 83% of children learn full-time and only 1.6 are positive according to PCR tests. “We know seniors and unvaccinated people are leaving the hospital,” the minister added, noting that schools are not hearths. According to him, the experience from last year also says that Slovakia did not help when the schools remained closed: “To say that schools are a problem is not true.”

“Schools should remain open. We have to stop this for every single child, “ the minister said, adding that experts and surrounding countries were saying so. The head of the education department also revealed other facts. According to him, 71% of employees are vaccinated in education. The third dose is said to have already been provided by 11% of teachers: “They are responsible so that we can keep the children in schools as long as possible.”

In addition to students, the Ministry of Education also wants to take care of employees. Therefore, they allegedly sent schools 4.38 million euros for staff to provide tests and protective equipment. “It costs 30 euros for each employee,” the minister added. In addition, drapes will be mandatory. Only children under 6 years of age and children with disabilities will have exceptions. “From Monday, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, special schools and special educational facilities will be open,” said the minister. Art schools, leisure centers, language schools and all extracurricular activities and clubs pass to distance learning. This does not apply to the tutoring project.

New regulations for schools: Schools will have a new ban on mixing classes. They will also have to provide separate meals in canteens and at different times. Dormitories and canteens will be open only to those who are full-time. Others can only take their food home through a separate window. The dormitories will be in OTP mode, which means that everyone will have to be vaccinated, overcome or tested.

Gröhling revealed that maybe a hybrid version of teaching will be used so that parents who are afraid can leave their children at home. They would be sent tasks. But the minister will not inform about it more specifically until they have completed this proposal legally.
