Coronavirus: Dozens of passengers from South Africa tested positive – SME.sk

AMSTERDAM. Of the approximately 600 passengers who arrived on Friday by the Dutch company KLM from Of the Republic of South Africa to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, had 61 positive presence tests coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

Passengers who have tested positive will be taken to a guarded isolation hotel on or near the airport, where they must stay for five to seven days.

On Friday, the World Health Organization described the newly discovered variant omicron, also known as B.1.1.529, as a “variant of concern”.

It is possible that it may be more infectious than the currently globally widespread variant delta.
