Mutations in the omicron variant are worrying.

WASHINGTON. The American pharmaceutical company Moderna announced on Friday that it had started developing a strengthening so-called booster dose vaccines against the newly discovered coronavirus variant omicron, AFP reported.

It is one of three strategies that Moderna plans to address this new potential threat.

An alternative strategy is to administer existing vaccines in stronger doses.

“The mutations in the omicron variant are worrying and we have been working for several days to implement our strategy against this variant as quickly as possible,” said Stephna Bancel, CEO of Moderna.
