At least one person shot at Southpoint shopping center in Durham

(CNN) – At least one person was shot at the Southpoint Mall in Durham, North Carolina, according to City Councilman Mark-Anthony Middleton.

“I can confirm that at least one person was shot at Southpoint Mall,” he said. “We know there are a lot of people out there for Black Friday. We don’t yet have information on the condition of the victim or the apprehension of an attacker.”

The mall is currently closed and is being evacuated, according to Middleton.

Authorities are asking people to stay away from the mall area at this time, according to Middleton, as the situation is mixed.

Additionally, the mall will be closed until further notice, according to the mall’s website.
