Xiaomi 12: why a release from December 12 is plausible – Frandroid

The Xiaomi 12 could be released on December 12 while the Xiaomi Mi 11 was announced on December 28. Here’s why such an advanced launch doesn’t seem so unlikely.

After a year all fired up, Xiaomi is preparing the launch of its next flagship, which is expected under the name of Xiaomi 12. If its design is still completely unknown, more and more eyes are turning to a release in December, starting with the very active leaker Digital Chat Station.

According to mydrivers.com (via GSMArena), Xiaomi would even try the coup of the symmetrical date by unveiling its new premium series on December 12, or 12/12. As long as you do, why not present it at 12:12 pm? This is just a joke on our part of course.

Why is it not so crazy

Let us insist on the fact that this presumed launch date is to be taken with a lot of tweezers until this is confirmed by Xiaomi. This date can also give the impression of intervening a little early compared to some competitors. Indeed, Samsung traditionally unveils its S series in January, Oneplus in March or April and Apple in September to name just a few brands.

That said, several clues suggest that this date is not totally crazy. Let’s start by recalling that last year, the Mi 11 have already come out of the woods in December, the 28 to be precise.

The Snapdragon Race

Another clue that could confirm an announcement slightly earlier: Qualcomm is preparing to present its new generation of chip, possibly abandoning a name like Snapdragon 898 for a new nomenclature: Snapdragon 8 Gen1. Gold, the race for the first smartphone equipped with the new chip is launched and Xiaomi is definitely one of the serious competitors, since the brand won the pom-pom last year by presenting the first smartphone under Snapdragon 888.

Another motivation to announce your smartphone as soon as possible. Even if it is a bit of a fleeting glory, it helps to draw attention to its product as soon as it is announced.

Note also that if the Xiaomi 12 has indeed been announced on December 12, its launch in Europe should not take place for many weeks. As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi 11 announced on December 28 was only released in France on March 9.
