Opening day of the Davis Cup final: Swedes and Croats to zero, drama between the Czech Republic and France – Športky.sk

MADRID – Swedish tennis players have successfully competed in the Davis Cup final. In the B-group in Madrid, they defeated Canada 3-0, when, after singles, they built a 2-0 lead thanks to Elias and Mikael Ymer.

In the C-group in Turin, the Croatians scored their first victory, dealing with Australia 3-0 thanks to Born Gojo, Marin Čilič and deblistist Nikola Mektič with Mat PAvič.

In the C-group duo between the Czech Republic and France in Innsbruck, the French decided on their close triumph in the final doubles. Tomáš Macháč took care of the starting point for the Czech colors, defeating the experienced Richard Gasquet 7: 6 (2), 6: 2. In the second single, Jiří Veselý lost to Adrian Mannarin 7: 6, 4: 6, 2: 6.

The decisive third point for France was won by the winners of the tournament champions Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut, who managed the young pair Macháč and Jiří Lehečka in three sets 3: 6, 6: 4 and 6: 3.
