In an attempt to calm the situation, the prefecture of Martinique is establishing a new curfew this evening (November 25, 2021) at 7 p.m. Thanks to this measure, the police hope to more easily apprehend the demonstrators and remove the roadblocks.
In order to try to curb the violence that has been raging in Martinique for a few days, Prefecture introduces a new curfew which begins this Thursday, November 25, 2021 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and will be applied until calm is restored.
From this Thursday evening, the police will carry out checks on the public highway. From 7 p.m. no outing is allowed outside of professional and medical circumstances.

This decision will allow the gendarmes and police to lift the various roadblocks and better control the demonstrators throughout Martinique.
Asked about the possible arrival of gendarmes as reinforcements in Martinique, the state services do not confirm for the moment.
By force of circumstances, the exemption granted within the framework of supervised sporting practice, modifying the curfew time to 10 p.m., is suspended.
State services in Martinique are based on Guadeloupe. From the start of the violence, the local authorities had applied such a measure. At first, it had little effect. It was the arrival of 200 gendarmes as reinforcements, which slightly changed the situation. Dams and night-time abuses continue in Guadeloupe.
