The state of health emergency is back in the Czech Republic, already in force between October 2020 and April 2021. The measure was imposed by the outgoing government of Andrej Babis, while the infections of Covid 19 continue to grow. The incidence has risen to 1,097 cases out of 100 thousand. The state of emergency will take effect tomorrow and will last for 30 days. It will allow the government to suspend certain rights, such as freedom of assembly. It will also be possible to require medical students to work in hospitals. The opposition, which won the October elections and is expected to take over the government within weeks, complained that it was not consulted. The new wave of infections has hit the east of the country above all. Today 19 covid patients were flown by helicopter from Brno to Prague. In this country of 10.7 million inhabitants, 6.3 million are fully vaccinated. To reduce infections, access to hotels and restaurants is limited to people who have been cured or vaccinated.
