More than 18,000 infected.
Coronavirus in the Czech Republic
Laboratories have detected another 18,004 infected in the Czech Republic in the last 24 hours coronavirus. 5886 people with covid are hospitalized and almost 850 of them are in serious condition. This follows from the data of the Czech Ministry of Health.
The seven-day incidence also climbed to a new high – 1,097 of them had infected 100,000 inhabitants in the past week. Compared to last Wednesday (819), this is an increase of almost 34 percent.
The ministry has registered 33 covid-related deaths so far on Wednesday, but that number may still grow. A total of 104 deaths were reported on Tuesday, 102 the day before.
The news server iDNES.cz also informed that a large-capacity ambulance was leaving Prague around 6.30 am to bring ten covid patients connected to oxygen from Brno. The reason is the congested hospitals in Brno, the mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib, posted on Twitter.
According to the outgoing Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, the Czech government will take further anti-civic measures on Friday. The Prime Minister did not specify their scope on Wednesday, but did not rule out a declaration of a state of emergency.
