THE ANGELES. American actor Kevin Spacey lost a dispute with the producers of the series House of Cards. The arbitration awarded them approximately $ 31 million in damages.

Spacey played the lead role in the series, but four years ago he was accused of sexually harassing young men and lost his role.

MRC, which produced the successful series, claimed the loss. MRC reports that Spacey’s departure from the series caused her “significant losses.” The company also claims that it did not know about the harassment before.

This was not the only case in which the actor was involved. At the height of the MeToo campaign in 2017, he was one of the main targets of the accusation following the scandal surrounding producer Harvey Weinstein.

About 30 men accused him of sexual harassment, although only one case ended up in court. In the end, the prosecutor’s office also withdrew the accusations.

Spacey’s career was still in shambles. He lost his role in the House of Cards series during the last, sixth series. The script for her was almost done at the time.

The screenwriters had to rework it into a form in which the main character, politician Frank Underwood, did not appear. They also shortened the series from 13 to eight parts.

Information about the outcome of the arbitration reached the media after the MRC turned to a court in Los Angeles with a request for confirmation of the settlement.

This obliges Spacey and its two production companies to pay $ 29.5 million in damages, as well as the other party’s $ 1.5 million costs.
