The new Niro is supposed to be a much more emotional crossover. The Habaniro concept from 2019 was behind the model.

Niro was an important model for Kiu. It was introduced in 2016 as the first Kiu designed exclusively for alternative drives. Niro thus came as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder, but also as a pure e-Niro electric car. This technique was packaged in the body of a compact crossover. And although Niro was not one of Kie’s bestsellers, it certainly found customers. Even in the pandemic year 2020, it registered almost 78,000 registrations, which was his record.

However, Kia is already preparing the premiere of the second generation. It will be presented later this month at the Seoul Mobility Show. Kia promises a much more attractive look inspired by the Habaniro concept from 2019. Of course, without wing doors and some other futuristic elements. The design is to be in line with the current stylistic language of “unity of opposites”. In addition, the first images indicate the preservation of the vertical rear lights and the contrast painting of the rear pillars.

Kia also promises a spacious interior with an unconventional asymmetrical dashboard. However, she did not reveal anything about the technology. The question therefore remains whether the Niro, like the Habaniro concept, will only be transformed into a pure electric car, as a cheaper alternative to the Kia EV6, or will remain faithful to the hybrid drive, which will keep its price tag even lower. We will not wait long for an answer. The Seoul Motor Show begins on November 25.
