Adele’s “30”, 2021 US top-selling album in 3 days – The HuffPost

MUSIC – A box. Only three days after its release on November 19, the fourth album ofAdele, entitled 30, had sold more than 575,000 copies in the United States (combining vinyl, CDs and streaming downloads) according to data reported by Billboard this Monday, November 22.

Numbers completely crazy who already make it the best-selling album of the year 2021, ahead of Evermore of Taylor Swift (462,000 copies) released almost a year ago, in December 2020.

In 30, whose title refers to the age she was when she started this project (she is now 33), the singer looks back on her difficult divorce from her now ex-husband Simon Konecki in 2019, and of its consequences on the mental health of his son Angelo.

A touching and very intimate project which has also conquered the United Kingdom. According to The Guardian, with 167,000 sales in midweek (midweek), Adele is on the way to having the biggest week of individual sales of the year, and thus dethroning Abba and its 204,000 copies sold at the time of the release of Trip at the beginning of the month.

With “30”, Adele close to a rare feat

Olivia Rodrigo and her album sour released in May, the best-selling of 2021 across the Channel (320,000 sales) remains in the lead for now, but probably not for long.

And that’s not all, since Adele – who very recently got from Spotify removing “shuffle” from albums – could potentially end the week with three of his singles (Easy on Me, Oh my God and My little love) on the UK Singles Chart podium (the UK weekly ranking). A feat that only Justin Bieber achieved in 2016.

What’s more, 30 is likely to appear at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (weekly ranking of the 200 best-selling albums in the United States) on December 4, overtaking Taylor Swift and his rewrite of Red, currently topping the charts. It would be the third time after 21 and 25, her two previous albums, that Adele would achieve such a performance.
