Monday morning, Jean Castex was traveling to Brussels where he met Alexander De Croo, his Belgian counterpart and four of his ministers to talk about security. All were placed in solitary confinement until the results of their tests were negative, said the cabinet of the head of the Belgian government.

The Prime Minister was himself accompanied by the Ministers of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, of the Secretary of State for Europe, Clément Beaune.

The Director General of Internal Security, Nicolas Lerner, that of External Security, Bernard Emie, the National Counterterrorism Prosecutor, Jean-François Ricard, and the National Coordinator of Intelligence and the Fight against Terrorism, Laurent Nunez, were also part of the of the delegation during this trip.

All have therefore become contact cases, just like ministers Roxana Maracineanu, Minister of Sports, Alain Griset, Minister responsible for small and medium-sized enterprises, Marc Fesneau, Minister responsible for relations with Parliament, Geneviève Darrieussecq, Secretary of State for the Minister of the Armed Forces, and Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Secretary of State for Tourism, all crossed by the head of government on Monday.

This Tuesday morning, Gérald Darmanin, Roxana Maracineanu, Christian Beaune, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Eric Dupont-Moretti revealed to be negative at Covid-19, according to information confirmed to LCI. The other ministers have all been asked to get tested. For his part, Emmanuel Macron is not concerned: Jean Castex has not seen the President of the Republic since the Council of Ministers on Wednesday morning.

Since the start of the pandemic, the Prime Minister had already been in contact with Covid-19 in three times previously: in September 2020 during the Tour de France after sharing the car of the competition director, Christian Prudhomme, a second time following a dinner with Emmanuel Macron in December, then in June, after his wife had contracted disease.

This time, the news of his contamination forces the head of government to shake up his agenda. “Everything will be arranged over the next few days so that he can continue his activities while being in isolation” during the 10 days indicated, said Matignon.
