Hilda Múdra († 95), legendary coach of century athlete Ondrej Nepelu, died – TVNOVINY.sk

At the age of 95, the legendary figure skating coach Hilda Múdra died on Monday night. TASR confirmed her family. During her career, Múdra led her most famous trustee, Ondrej Nepel, to ten gold medals at top events. To the title of Olympic champion at the 1972 Olympics in Sapporo, three gold at the World Championships (1971 – 1973), five at the European Championships (1969 – 1973) and one at the World Winter Universiade (1970).

The Wise was born on January 1, 1926 in the Josefstadt district of Vienna to a family of teachers named Hildegard Klimpel. However, when, as a member of the Vienna Ice Revue, she fell in love with Prešporák Jozef Múdre, the manager of the Slovak tour ensemble, and in the autumn of 1947 she married him in Bratislava’s Blue Church, she had her first name Hilda written on his advice. In 1949 she had a daughter Dagmar and a year a son Pavol.

Nepelu has been training since its inception, as he dedicated the first, bronze medal to her forty-fourth at the European Championships in Bratislava. For some time she also led other leading Slovak figure skaters: Marián Fill, Agnes Búřilová-Wlachovská, Miroslav Šoška, ​​Ľudmila Bezáková or Eva Križková-Ďurišinová. The list of her trustees also includes the successful dancer and later successful coach Martin Skotnický.

During Nepel’s career, but especially after it, Múdra only worked abroad during the summer or for a long time. She trained the Swiss Charlotte Walter, ninth at the 1972 Olympics, or the Croatian Sanda Dubravčičová, who won silver at the 1981 European Championships and lit the Olympic flame at the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics, where she finished tenth.

She has received several awards for her life’s work. IOC Trophy Sport and Ethics (1998), SOV Golden Circles and SOV Fair Play Award (2000), the ILO Pierre de Coubertin Medal (2003) and honorary membership of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (2004).
