After four years, VW is modernizing its compact T-Roc crossover. It brings better materials in the cabin, but also more connectivity and safety. The facelift applies to all three versions. So also the sharp T-Roc R and convertible. The diesel under the hood continues.

Volkswagen launched the sporty T-Roc crossover in 2017. And it has become an important model for it. This is evidenced by more than a million registrations. In 2019, it expanded its offer with an “inflated” T-Roc R with an output of 225 kW, and a year later it also included a unique convertible. Now is the time to upgrade. And Volkswagen took care of her. Although the stylistic changes are not dramatic, the T-Roc is much more valuable in the cabin. Seeing that the carmaker has responded to criticism of too cheap processing.

In addition, the appearance is refreshed by the offer of five new body paints as well as wheel discs with a diameter of 17 to 19 inches. In addition, the designers tried to differentiate the versions more. The Style line therefore has a contrasting lacquered roof and more chrome decorations.

The R-Line approached the sharp T-Roc R with vertical daytime running lights and more aggressively shaped bumpers. In addition, customers can choose a black package to replace chrome with piano black. It is interesting that the R-Line also received a sports package, in which it has a lowered chassis. Inside, Volkswagen redesigned the entire dashboard. And he did well, because T-Roc finally corresponds to the brand’s position in the group’s hierarchy. “Deck” is upholstered in soft material with effective stitching. Textiles or artificial leather also got on the door.

VW T-Roc – 2021 The interior looks much more valuable. This is mainly due to the dashboard upholstery, a more solid material and a much more modern infotainment system with a free-standing touch screen.

Infotainment boasts a 10-inch digital instrument panel or the optional Digital Cockpit Pro. Also new is the central freestanding touch screen with a diagonal of 8.0 or 9.2 inches. All infotainment systems are now based on the latest MIB3 architecture, so voice control, We Connect Plus online services, streaming and smartphone connectivity via Apple Carplay and Android Auto wireless platforms are available. The multifunction steering wheel and a separate digital air conditioning panel are also new.

The Style version adds comfortable seats or ambient backlighting. R-Line enhances the sporty atmosphere with a sports steering wheel. For an additional fee, customers will be able to choose sports seats. The Black package will enrich the interior with black design decorations. Safety is supported by the standard Front Assist to prevent head-on collisions and keep the Line Assist running. The optional IQDrive Travel Assist package, which works up to 210 km / h, adds advanced assistance features, including intelligent cruise control and speed limiter, which also work with navigation data and traffic sign readers.

Everything remained the same under the hood. And that’s good, because there are also two 2.0 TDI diesel engines with an output of 85 or 110 kW, while the 4Motion ATV is available for the more powerful. The petrol offer consists of three units – a 3-cylinder 1.0 TSI (81 kW) and two 4-cylinders 1.5 TSI (110 kW) and 2.0 TSI (140) kW. The most powerful is standardly connected to the drive of both axles. Depending on the engine, there will be a choice of 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmissions. The top T-Roc R stays true to the 4-cylinder 2.0 TSI tuned up to 225 kW.

For the atypical convertible, which folds the roof in just nine seconds, only the 1.5 TSI (110 kW) engine is designed. The renewed Volkswagen crossover will be available from December. It should reach the first customers in the spring of 2021. In all three versions.
