BERLIN – Bayern Munich footballer Joshua Kimmich will not receive a salary from the club during quarantine. The daily Bild reported on Sunday. The newspaper, referring to a source from the club, stated that the bosses of Bayern, in addition to Kimmich, would not pay out the other four players who had to go to quarantine during the quarantine.

The report states that the club is also considering further sanctions. Kimmich refuses to be vaccinated and the club reportedly considers that if he does not do so, he will not allow him to enter the team’s training facilities. He wants to increase the pressure on his players to be vaccinated. Bayern has not commented on the report yet. In addition to Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting are quarantined. They had to isolate themselves after coming in close contact with teammate Niklas Sül, who had a positive coronavirus test.

Kimmich was quarantined for the second time in a short time, this time in contact with a close person in private. He therefore had to miss Friday’s Bayern league match in Augsburg and will also be missing in the Champions League duel with Dynamo Kyiv.

Vaccination is not mandatory for German footballers, but the debate over Kimmich’s problems and the rapid rise in infections in Germany has intensified. Many politicians have called for mandatory vaccinations for players.
