Coronavirus in the Czech Republic: 22,936 infected – SME.sk

PRAGUE. Laboratories in the Czech Republic confirmed 22,936 new cases on Friday coronavirus, which is the highest daily increase in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic. It follows from the data of the Czech Ministry of Health published on Saturday morning.

The Czech Republic recorded a record daily increase in those infected on Tuesday, when 22,508 people became infected.

The so-called incidence number is also the highest since the beginning of a coronavirus pandemic. There are 929 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants in the Czech Republic in the last seven days, writes the news server Novinky.cz.

Almost five thousand people in hospitals

In total, more than 32,000 people have died with covid in the Czech Republic. On Friday, 52 people lost their lives, a day earlier it was up to 110 people. It was the first time since April that the number of victims with the covid had exceeded 100 in a single day, introduced the TN.cz portal of the Czech television Nova.

There are currently 4,890 patients in hospitals with Covid-19, 724 of whom are in serious condition.

The Czech Republic has tightened measures

The government of the incumbent Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš on Friday, it decided to tighten measures against the spread of the new coronavirus. Among other things, it introduced compulsory testing of unvaccinated employees and comprehensive weekly testing of primary and secondary school pupils and students, and recommended working from home for civil servants.

However, Babiš also ruled out the introduction of lockdown or compulsory vaccination, following the example of neighboring Austria. It expects the newly introduced measures to remain in force until the end of February next year.
