Touching words of Zuzana Čaputová after the funeral of Miroslav Žbirka – Pluska.sk

President Zuzana Čaputová also attended the last farewell to the legend of Slovak popular music Miroslav Žbirk († 69). After the funeral, President Meky, as everyone called him, addressed moving words.

The mourning ceremony was also marked by white flowers worn by Meky’s fans in front of the crematorium. It was a reference to Žbirka’s unforgettable hit White Flower. During the funeral, Žbirk’s songs were played, such as The Ballad of the Wild Birds and The First. The author of Meky’s book Close up, Jan Vendral, then took the floor: “A piece of Czechoslovakia left with Meky, and also the feeling that our music can have world parameters.”

The funeral took place in the Strašnice crematorium in Prague, and in addition to the closest family members and friends, Čaputová also took part. After the mourning ceremony, she wrote touching words on the social network: “We applauded Meky Žbirek for the last time. Thank you for every song. “ The president also sent a message to Meky’s closest ones: “I wish my wife Katka Žbirková and my children Denise, David and Linde a lot of strength.”

Miroslav Žbirka left us forever on November 10 at the age of 69. In 1982, he became the first Slovak Golden Nightingale. In addition to music, Meky was also famous for the cult musical Don’t Take Our Princess, where he and Marika Gombitová played the main characters.
