In Austria, they have taken tough measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic – from Monday, there will be a tough lockdown in the country for all people, not just the unvaccinated.

From February, the Austrian government wants to introduce compulsory vaccination for virtually everyone. Austria would thus become the first country in the European Union where vaccination is mandatory. About 66 percent of the population has been vaccinated there so far.

In Slovakia, vaccination is voluntary, vaccination is approximately 46 percent, hospitals report a lack of beds and lung ventilation. Would vaccination be a solution to the bad pandemic situation in our country? The daily N addressed politicians and experts with this issue.

“If Austria decides to take such a step in a significantly better situation, Slovakia should do the more so, where more people die unnecessarily, where we have significantly weaker hospital capacities and whose economy cannot afford inefficient and very expensive anti-pandemic measures, “Says doctor Peter Visolajský, according to whom vaccination of seniors is mandatory.

“After seeing the situation in the hospital, seeing people suffer and die unnecessarily every day, I fully support the idea of ​​compulsory vaccination,” says doctor Peter Sabaka. In the current situation, he said, the introduction of compulsory vaccination would be “the most humane solution”.

In the current situation, experts also support the greatest possible restriction of mobility.
