German tennis player Alexander Zverev became the third singles semifinalist in the championship in Turin. In the final performance in the red group, he defeated the Hubert Hurkacz poles seven “spider” 6: 2, 6: 4.

Defender Medvedev also won the third duel in the tournament, the home Italian Jannik Sinner (he replaced the injured compatriot Mattea Berrettini) conquered 6: 0, 6: 7 (5), 7: 6 (8) after a three-hundred match.

Friday’s duel between Russian Andrei Rublov and Norwegian Casper Ruud in the green group will decide the last to advance to the semifinals.

Zverev dominated the first set of the duel with Hurkacz in the court, twice breaking the opponent’s serve and clearly winning it in his favor.

The German returned well, he had the upper hand in longer exchanges. The fate of the second act was decided by Zverev’s break at 4: 4. In the tenth game, the winner of the Masters from 2018 turned the first swordball.

Hurkacz also fell in the third match in Turin. Zverev will play against Djokovic in Saturday’s semifinals.

“It was a mentally demanding match against Hubert. I needed to win and I had to be as focused as possible from the beginning. I’m glad I managed it in two sets. There is always room for improvement.

The differences between the top players are minimal and the details are decisive. I’ve played against Novak at all the big hard tournaments this year – the Australian Open, the Tokyo Olympics and the US Open.
