Former Burma leader Aung San Suu Kyi charged with “electoral fraud”

This is a new legal proceeding against Aung San Suu Kyi. The former Burmese leader, overthrown by the army in February, will be indicted for “electoral fraud” during the 2020 legislative elections won hands down by her party, state media announced on Tuesday (November 17th).

She will be prosecuted for “electoral fraud”, the Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper reported, without giving further details. Fifteen other officials, including the former President of the Republic, Win Myint, also arrested during the February coup, will be prosecuted for the same offense.
