The court released Bašternák on parole, the decision is not yet legally valid – Denník N

The Trenčín District Court released Ladislav Bašternák on parole. The decision is not valid, the prosecutor will file a complaint against it.

Judge Michal Fiala said that the Senate’s decision was made in a 2: 1 ratio.

The court considers the release of Bašternák to be legal, “as the convict has shown improvement”.

The court set Bašternák a probationary period of 30 months and forbade him to leave the territory of the Slovak Republic. This is to be controlled by technical means.

Bašternák has already been convicted twice of tax fraud. He received a valid sentence of 5 years, but the director of the prison in Dubnice nad Váhom proposed that he go free for two and a half years. Bašternák was convicted of fraud for almost 2 million euros.

As the prosecutor announced the filing of the complaint, Bašternák is not at large today.

Bašternák faces up to 7 years in prison, which is requested by the prosecutor in another criminal case.
