VW ID.5: The original electric SUV-coupe was presented in Slovakia! – PRAVDA.sk

Volkswagen has introduced its first SUV coupe. It is purely electric, offers 4×4 drive and boasts up to 220 kW.

After the ID.3 hatchback and the ID.4 SUV, Volkswagen comes with its, the third ID electric car in a row. At the same time, the German carmaker is entering the popular SUV-coupe segment for the first time. So it’s not just an ordinary ID4 derivative. In Wolfsburg, they cared about ID.5 gaining a more autonomous position. There is therefore more change than it might seem. And literally just a few days after the official premiere, the car also appeared in Slovakia.

In terms of price, this model is built relatively well above its model sibling ID.4. The difference is about three thousand euros, but in addition to the design, the ID.5 also boasts richer equipment at the base and at an additional cost. Characteristic LED lighting with interconnected headlights at the front (optional) and interconnected LED taillights is a typical hallmark of ID electric cars and is not missing even with ID.5.

However, in terms of appearance, ID.5 has several significant differences from ID.4. The front bumper has been changed, it has lacquered door trim and especially a new sloping roof line. In the SUV coupe, many fear that the sloping roof will take up space above the head. In the case of this car, however, the difference from ID.4 is only one and a half centimeters.

The top version of the ID.5 GTX also differs in the design of the front bumper and the IQ.Light LED-Matrix headlights with adaptive high beams in series, as well as the 3D rear LED lights. You can have adaptive DCC shock absorbers on it at an additional cost.

Volkswagen ID.5 Volkswagen ID.4 and Volkswagen ID.5 – comparison of basic parameters

The Volkswagen ID.5 is also the first vehicle with the new ID.Software 3.0 software, which in practice also brings several new functions. One of the most interesting is the improved charging performance, improved voice control (this is also natural speech and the system is now able to improve through learning) and new in-car applications have been added.

The instrument panel is almost identical to the ID.4 model. In front of the driver is a smaller display of the digital instrument cluster, in the middle of the instrument panel is a large touch screen of the infotainment system with air conditioning controls. Additional information is displayed by an optional innovative head-up display with augmented reality, using the entire area of ​​the front window.

The Volkswagen SUV coupe with a length of 4599 mm (ID.5 GTX: 4582 mm) will go on sale in 2022 with three engines. With the ID.5, the drive is provided by an electric motor on the rear axle, which has an output of 128 kW (174 hp) or 150 kW (204 hp), the ID.5 GTX has all-wheel drive with two electric motors, which together provide a system power of 220 kW (299 hp) . Using the Mode 3 serial cable, the electric SUV can be charged with alternating current (AC) with an output of up to 11 kW. At the public fast charging station, the vehicle allows charging with direct current (DC) up to 135 kW as standard.

The Volkswagen ID.5 will reach its first customers at the beginning of next year. The complete official Slovak price list should be published at the end of this week.
