“There will also be a night curfew for vaccinated people. It is part of a package of measures that are on the table.” said Mückstein from the Greens. According to him, the government is responding to the recommendations of experts who, in connection with the sharp increase in the number of infected and hospitalized, call for further measures, including a reduction in people’s meetings. The package, which will also be consulted with the Länder, could be decided on Wednesday. The attitude of the people who reject the restrictions for the vaccinated will be important.

As further measures discussed, Mückstein mentioned the mandatory wearing of FFP2 class respirators indoors, the extension of PCR tests to vaccinated and capacity constraints at mass events. Mückstein defended this measure in the ORF broadcast “dramatic situation in intensive care units”. When asked why the government had not taken stricter measures before, the minister did not answer directly, but pointed to a regulation in force since October 8, according to which restaurants, hotels or cultural events can only be attended by people who have been vaccinated or surpassed. population for vaccination.

The announced compulsory vaccination for the health professions should apply to hospitals and social services homes. Mückstein said that the relevant law was being prepared, which provides for transitional periods. Mandatory vaccination of teachers will not be enforced, as in his view this could be in conflict with the constitution.
