Žbirka started on a bench on Račka, people light candles there – PRAVDA.sk

The bench that connects with Miroslav Žbirk (1952-2021) on Bratislava’s Račianske myth may become an attraction.

At that place, Žbirka was to sit as a teenager and play guitar to his friends. Apparently someone was walking around, he heard him singing and told him that one band was looking for a singer. He tried – and became part of Modus.

They want to repair and mark the bench. The Živé Račko civic association has been working on this idea for a long time. As Marianna Mašátová, who works in the association and is also a local MP, told Bratislavské noviny, Meky himself was to come to the unveiling ceremony, which was scheduled for next year, when he would celebrate his 70th birthday.

Until the public receives the official designation of the Meky Žbirka bench, the locals walk and light candles. They remember where the Slovak legend began…
