Covid: Gabriel Attal does not rule out new confinement, “on principle” – The HuffPost

HEALTH – “Containment”. It’s a word we would like to forget. But this Saturday, November 13, guest of the show We are live on France 2, Gabriel Attal, spokesperson for government, without pronouncing it, did not rule it out definitively either.

While Europe is once again “the epicenter of the epidemic”, according to the WHO, France is preparing for a probable fifth wave which already touches our neighbors. Asked about the possibility of reviewing restrictive measures in France, such as curfews or containments, Attal did not rule out this possibility.

“I don’t want to panic people”

“One of the lessons I have learned for 18 months is that nothing should ever be excluded on principle, this epidemic continues to surprise the whole world,” noted the former socialist. “But I do not want to panic people, there is absolutely no question of a re-containment”, he immediately tempered. “You have to be careful, keep your mask on, ventilate your home and be careful,” recommends the minister.

Like Emmanuel Macron who requested on November 9 the respect of barrier gestures and announced the obligation of the booster dose for the validity of the health pass for over 65s, Attal recalls that “the health situation is very tense”.

He welcomes the president’s speech which “was useful since 620,000 people have made an appointment for a booster dose since the announcement of this speech”, he described.

“It is necessary that the most fragile French make their reminder of vaccination”, claims the minister who maintains that one has could ”avoid new measures and contain the wave in the hospital this summer thanks to the vaccination and the health pass”.
