LULEA – The Slovak hockey team won their third appearance in the final tournament of the Olympic Games 2022, when they defeated the Republic of Korea high 7: 1 in Lulee on Sunday. They took the final third place.

The Slovak national team started the final duel of the qualification with an onslaught and took the lead in the 4th minute when Korenková prevailed. In less than two minutes, Lucák Čupková added a second accurate shot and the same player increased to 3: 0 in the 11th minute. In the 14th minute, Ištocyová used a power play. The Koreans managed to reduce in the 18th minute, but it was a unique action of the group’s outsiders and their first ever goal in the tournament. The Slovaks also dominated in the second act, Kubeková prevailed in the 24th minute and Matejková used another power play in the 36th minute. Ištocy closed the duel with her second goal in the 54th minute.

Only the winner of the group will make it to the February Olympic Games, which will be decided by the evening duel of the home Swedes with France. Both teams have six points. The Slovaks lost in the first match with the Swedes 0: 3 and on Saturday with the French 1: 3.
