6.5 magnitude earthquake shakes southern Iran

(CNN) – A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck southern Iran on Sunday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

The quake had a depth of 100 kilometers according to the EMSC and struck 47 kilometers northwest of Bandar Abbas and 257 kilometers north of the city of Ajman in the United Arab Emirates.

CNN received reports from people in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, saying they felt the earthquake.
