EXCLUSIVE. Decathlon, EDF, Doctolib, Picard… Discover the top 50 favorite companies of the French in 2021 – Le Journal du dimanche

Used to being judged by their clients, analyzed by financiers, evaluated by decision-makers, companies are rarely confronted with the opinion of the general public. To help them project themselves into “the world after”, precise insight into their popularity rating is nevertheless decisive. And the way the French look at their companies says more about their aspirations, in terms of purchasing power or work, than a lot of political speech. This is what makes the third ranking – carried out by Ifop for the financial and operational consultancy firm Eight Advisory and the JDD – this time again so relevant.

Decathlon in the lead

“The six assessment criteria give a very precise picture of the rating of companies. Among the best placed, those who master their customer relations, digital technology and their prices”, explains Stéphane Nénez, partner of Eight Advisory. At Decathlon, we never tire of it. At the peak of the third wave of the survey, the sports goods brand remains, as in 2019 and 2020, the most admired company of the French. A champion’s performance when we take a closer look at the rating assigned to it. This year, as in the previous two, Decathlon is the only brand in the ranking to exceed the score of 12/20. Peugeot is consolidating its position as runner-up, again for the third year in a row.

Behind, the hierarchy is jostled by Leclerc, who climbs on the podium, dethroning Renault. Leroy Merlin and Yves Rocher continue their ascent. The most spectacular leap can be attributed to Doctolib, which goes from 32nd to 11th position. The site for making medical appointments is even ahead of Decathlon, in “its ability to improve the daily lives of the French”. Only one bank appears in the top 50: Crédit Agricole (43rd).

Improve daily life

If the impact of the company on the country’s economy and its ability to improve their daily lives remain two determining criteria for those surveyed, Romain Bendavid, director of “business strategy” expertise at Ifop, underlines two significant changes in this 2021 edition. “We can see that the French attach more importance to companies that arouse the desire to work there. This could be analyzed as a change in the balance of power between employer and employee which refers to the current labor shortage in some sectors. ” This criterion has even become more important for the French than the efforts of companies in environmental matters.
