Chris Daughtry postpones concerts after daughter’s sudden death

(CNN) – “American Idol” alumnus Chris Daughtry postponed a number of concert dates following the sudden death of his daughter, Hannah, his band announced on social media Saturday.

“Due to the unexpected death of Chris and Deanna Daughtry’s daughter Hannah, all shows currently scheduled for Daughtry next week have been canceled or postponed,” said the band on Twitter and Instagram.

“The Daughtry family thanks you for your understanding and respectfully requests your privacy during this very difficult time. More details will be available at a later date. The investigation into this tragic death is still ongoing,” the publication added.

In a post in his Instagram account, Daughtry said it was still processing the last 24 hours.

“I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken. I recently lost my mother to cancer, but I was fortunate to have the opportunity to say goodbye and I was processing it privately,” he wrote. “We were never able to say goodbye to our precious Hannah and it is another huge blow to our family.”

Daughtry thanked people for their condolences and said he was taking the time to be present with his family. “Hannah, I love you. I miss you. I wish I could hug you. This hurts so deeply,” she wrote.

The singer’s wife, Deanna, remembered her daughter in a instagram post Saturday.

“My firstborn. I love you infinitely Hannah. Our family would like to thank you all for the outpouring of love as we mourn the loss of our daughter Hannah,” writes Deanna Daughtry.

“We are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine how Hannah suffered the injuries that caused her death. Our hearts are broken,” he adds.

Details on the date, place and circumstances surrounding Hannah’s death are not available.
