This follows from the amendment of some laws in connection with the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Legislative changes were approved by the deputies of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic on Friday. 84 deputies supported the law, 34 were against and one abstained.

The government’s proposal for changes in connection with the pandemic was in its second reading for lunch, and deputies addressed it in a shortened legislative procedure. There were several speakers in writing for the discussion. After them, Members still had the opportunity to register orally.

What the amendment says

The legislative proposal mentions the possibility that an employee should prove himself / herself with a vaccination against COVID-19 disease, a confirmation of overcoming the disease or a negative test result upon entering work. This could also be required in plants. It also contains other changes, such as a pandemic PN or fines if someone offends health professionals, falsifies a COVID pass or endangers the provision of health care.

The draft of the Direction was rejected

Deputies rejected the draft resolution of the opposition Smer-SD on Friday. He wanted the parliament to oblige the Constitutional Court (CC) of the Slovak Republic to “decide on the submission of the Prosecutor General of the Slovak Republic on March 18, 2021, as well as on other similar submissions” in the interest of conflict prevention and legal certainty and stability.

Smer-SD reminded that in addition to the management of the prosecutor’s office, its deputies also turned to the CC for pandemic measures. According to them, a court decision could contribute to easing tensions, as citizens often do not agree with measures issued only on the basis of decrees of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic.
