Seine-Saint-Denis: 500 inhabitants of a tower who threaten to collapse have been evacuated – Franceinfo

From the top of its 32 floors, the Obélisque tower has dominated Épinay-sur-Seine (Seine-Saint-Denis) for fifty years. But Thursday, November 11, his days are numbered because of a risk of collapsing balconies, with chain consequences on the apartments. So the prefecture ordered the evacuation of the southern facade, following a judicial decision. Residents were forced to move within five days.

An owner almost emptied his apartment. “Fortunately, my nephew came to help me at the last minute”, he says, before bursting into tears. In front of the cameras of 19/20, the man expresses his despair, as his life crumbles, overnight. “I don’t know where I’m going, I’ve lost all my money, I’m out and I’m retired in two months”, he continues. His apartment will be bought back from him for 80,000 euros, while he has paid 135,000 euros.
