BRATISLAVA – Russian footballers crushed the 6-0 home at home in Cyprus 2022 in Thursday’s World Cup qualifying match and strengthened their chances of a direct advance to Qatar. “Zborná” is in the first place of the “Slovak” H-group five points ahead of Croatia, which started at 20:45 in Malta and needed to get three points. The leaders of the B-group of the Swedes presented themselves on the field of Georgia and needed to win in order to maintain the best possible position before the final hit with the second Spain. In the first half in Batumi, they worked out several great chances, but three times Zlatan Ibrahimovič, Victor Lindelöf and Alexander Isak broke their teeth on goalkeeper Giorgi Lori. The Swedes tried to equalize immediately after the goal, but they did not get into chances as easily as in the first half. The Spaniards can get to the top of the table one point ahead of the Swedes and in a better position before the final duel in Seville after an evening match with Greece.

The Spaniards, on the other hand, did not hesitate and in Greece won Pablo Sarabia with a 1 – 0 goal from the penalty in the 26th minute. They took advantage of the hesitation of the Swedes, thanks to three points they got one ahead of their opponents and in the final match in Seville they only need a draw to go directly to Qatar.

Already advancing Germans in the J-group confirmed the first place with a smooth triumph over Liechtenstein 9: 0. Northern Macedonia came in second thanks to a high win in Armenia 5: 0. The third Romanians who played with Iceland without goals have a point less.

The A-group match between the home Ireland and Portugal also ended in a 0-0 draw. The team around captain Cristiano Ronaldo is at the head of the group, the second Serbia also has seventeen points, and their Sunday’s match in Lisbon will definitely decide the advancing team.
