His arrival in Paris, and his presence on the most famous French avenue, was not by chance, a few weeks after the submarine crisis. This Thursday, November 11, the American vice-president, Kamala Harris, attended the commemorations of the armistice of 1918. The occasion for her to exchange with Emmanuel Macron and to evoke in particular Hubert Germain.

Arrived on the Champs-Élysées, the French head of state went to meet the American leader. “Have you met my Prime Minister?”, he asked him, before his interlocutor replied in the affirmative.

“It is a great honor to have you here”, continued the French president. “It’s important for us to be here. We share a great story”, then pointed out Kamala Harris.

Emmanuel Macron then mentioned Hubert Germain, the last Companion of the Liberation, who died on October 12, to whom France pays tribute on Thursday. “I read about Hubert Germain, what an extraordinary story. He had rage in his stomach”, replied Joe Biden’s vice president.
