TRNAVA. The Senate of the Regional Court in Trnava annulled the contested resolution of the Piešťany District Court on detention in the case of the accused Matej T at a closed session today.

According to Jana Kondákorová, a spokeswoman for the Regional Court in Trnava, the court immediately released the accused from prison. At the same time, he replaced the detention with the supervision of a probation and mediation officer. Among other duties, he was also barred from meeting his fellow defendants.

All three accused of attacking a public official and rioting in the Piešťany supermarket will thus be prosecuted at large.

In the morning, the Regional Court in Trnava rejected the prosecutor’s complaint against the detention of one of the accused, Joseph D. Both were professional soldiers in the past.

In the case of the third accused, the prosecutor did not agree with the proposal for detention.

Police intervened on Thursday, November 4, in a supermarket in Piešťany, where a group of people refused to put on respirators.

According to the police spokeswoman Zlatica Antalová, the patrol repeatedly called on the members of this group to cover their upper airways or to leave the store, thus enabling other customers in peace to complete their purchase. There was a physical conflict in which the police were forced to use coercive means.

Three of the actors in the conflict face charges of assaulting a public official and rioting.
