Ethiopia, Italian aid worker in custody

Alberto Livoni, an Italian co-worker of the NGO International Voluntary Service for Development (Vis), is in custody in Ethiopia. According to Adnkronos, the aid worker – who has been in the country since March – was stopped at the headquarters of a Salesian institute in the capital Addis Ababa. The Italian embassy in Ethiopia is following the case. At the moment there are no official confirmations on the reasons for Livoni’s arrest. Vis has been present since 1998 in all regions of Ethiopia, where in recent weeks there has been an escalation of the clash between the Tigray rebels and the central government.
