A study by scientists at the University of Montreal in Canada, published in a professional journal Scientific Reports, tried to find out whether a covid infection or vaccination leads to the production of more antibodies.

The results revealed that people vaccinated with the Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine had significantly higher antibody levels than people who had just survived the disease.

If someone overcame the covid in a light form and at the same time was vaccinated, the level of antibodies in their blood is double compared to an unvaccinated individual who also went through the disease, the study showed.

These antibodies were also effective against the delta variant, which did not yet exist in Montreal at the time the samples were taken. Another important factor turned out to be age.

“Everyone who was infected had antibodies, but older people developed more than adults under the age of 50,” said one of the study’s leaders, Professor Jean-François Masson.

“In addition, the antibodies were still present in their blood for 16 weeks after the diagnosis,” he added. Interestingly, these antibodies were raised against the original virus, but they were also able to protect against variants that emerged in other waves of the pandemic, namely beta (South Africa), delta (India) and game (Brazil). However, their efficiency was 30 to 50 percent lower.
