Kolíková: We also considered introducing an emergency situation

The Minister of Justice, Mária Kolíková, also called on the unvaccinated to inject the vaccine, as this is the most effective way to defeat a pandemic and at the same time avoid an emergency.

The amendment to the covid law will allow employers to check their employees and find out how vaccinated they are in the workplace. Kolíková wants to solve this legally on the basis of a government resolution, which will make it possible to define specific conditions on the basis of which people will be able to go to work.

Minister Kolíková adds that they have also considered introducing a state of emergency, but they will not approve it yet. So far, they do not have to restrict the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, the government has used all legal frameworks to do without a state of emergency.

Strict controls and enforcement will take effect over the weekend at the latest.

Lengvarsky: We are heading for disaster

200 people a week are currently dying from the coronavirus, according to Minister of Health Lengvarský. At present, there are more than 700,000 over 50 years of age in Slovakia who are not vaccinated, which is why the spread of the delta variant in our country can have fatal consequences.

Hospitals expect 3,500 patients within two weeks, of whom about 10% will be on lung ventilation. The Minister of Health claims that the complete suspension of the practice of white medicine is approaching, which may also cause secondary loss of life of people who do not receive routine health care.

“We are heading for a humanitarian crisis and I can say a catastrophe,” added Lengvarský.

The Minister of Health announces that the vaccinated will be allowed to enter restaurants in the black districts on the basis of a decree of the Public Health Office. It is not yet clear exactly when they will adopt the new legislation, which should happen next week, warns the head of the health department.

“Lockdown is a matter of further development if the situation does not improve,” said Lengvarsky. He claims that the proposal, which goes to parliament, has also been consulted with experts. The interruption of teaching will take place in specific schools. The chief hygienist will be able to limit the opening hours in restaurants.

A local emergency is still not ruled out, but the Minister of Health adds with one breath that the current enforcement of measures by police officers is much more important. “We see that the measures that are being set are not being complied with, unfortunately, we must comply with these and do not rule out that they will be stricter.” added Lengvarský.

According to Lengvarský, unvaccinated people who overcame the coronavirus do not have sufficient immunity; samples from Bratislava showed that only 25% of people have enough antibodies after overcoming covid.

The new measures have yet to be approved by parliament

The employee should prove himself / herself by vaccination against COVID-19 when entering the work, confirmation of overcoming the disease or a negative test result. The employee can arrange the testing himself or it will be provided free of charge by the employer. If an employee refuses free testing at work, this should qualify as a barrier to work on the part of the employee, without compensation.

If a person insults healthcare professionals, falsifies a covid pass or endangers the provision of healthcare, it should be possible to impose a fine of up to € 1,000. Up to 500 euros can be fined for offenses in block or order proceedings. There should be a fine of up to € 1,500, in block proceedings up to € 700, for offenses committed during an emergency, state of emergency or state of emergency.

According to the new rules, the pandemic PN should also reach the level of the standard PN from 1 December. Until now, pandemic PN conditions have been more favorable.
