On Tuesday evening, a long-awaited film about the life of the legendary Karel Gott called Karel entered Slovak cinemas. The footage documents his singing beginnings, great successes, career abroad … They record what an undisciplined student he was, but also what a warm relationship he had with his family.

However, the coldest scenes come from a hospital he has visited regularly in recent years. In November 2018, he learned that he did not have much time left in this world. Professor Marek Trněný, who treated him, told him that you should start enjoying life to the fullest and indulge in everything he wanted.

Karel and his wife have already announced the cold news to their children. It was fair for them to tell the girls that their time with their father was running out. Maestro tried to delay the irreversible end with biological treatment, it was an American experimental study. However, at the end of May 2019, it proved ineffective.

It is interesting that the main sponsor of the documentary about the legendary Czech is a Slovak – a close friend of the Gott family, Milan Fiľo.

“I dare say that in recent years, our relationship has developed into a real friendship. In the past, we even spent holidays together. I remember every moment with him and the memories of him will stay in my heart forever. I have admired Maestro Gott all my life, so I decided to support the filming of Karel. It connects two of my greatest passions and ambitions – art, its support and the preservation of Charles’s legacy for all and forever. “ Fiľo said.
