Terrified rector of a Czech university: Calls for an end to the vaccination campaign – TVNOVINY.sk

Vojtěch Petráček, Rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague, wrote an open letter to the Czech Minister of Health, Adam Vojtěch, urging him to immediately stop the campaign to support vaccination against COVID-19. According to Petráček, this campaign is “aggressive”, “disgusting” and “unethical”.

“Each of us who has the empathy and sense of pain of others will suffer when looking at the harsh images from the ARO (Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Department). For many, this stress exposure causes post-traumatic stress disorder or depression. This campaign will harm our company across the board and will not affect motivation, “Petráček writes in an open letter published by the CTU news service on Tuesday.

The Rector asks whether the ministry had a medical-ethical and psychological evaluation prepared for the campaign. According to him, authentic pictures of patients who ended up in hospitals provoke “media fear and tension in society”.
In recent days, the incumbent Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has also spoken out about the fact that the new campaign to support vaccination will be “brutal”.

According to the Rector of the Czech Technical University, the Ministry of Health should rather think about how to offer a helping hand to opponents of the vaccination, for example in the form of paying for an antibody test. “You know, after all, that those of us who have overcome the disease are better protected than those who have been vaccinated against the onset and hospitalization. Many may feel apprehensive about vaccinations because they fear reactions to high antibody levels, ”the rector said, calling for an immediate end to the campaign.

According to its spokesman Daniel Köppl, the Ministry of Health has selected about 12 images from the campaign, and about 12 of them will be used in the campaign. The campaign will be in print and online media, as well as on social networks.
