Covid today Gb, the impact of the pandemic on deaths at home

With the Covid 19 pandemic, between March 2020 and October 2021 there were 75,474 more than average deaths at home in England and Wales. This is evidenced by an analysis by the Press Association agency based on data from the national statistics office, cited by the media. However, the deaths are minimally attributed to covid: only 12%, equal to 8,824 cases. Most are from other illnesses, such as cancers and Alzheimer’s, who would have died in hospital before the pandemic. Since April 2002, deaths at home have been significantly more than in 2015-2019. Even in recent months, after the end of the lockdown, excess deaths at home have been between 700 and 900 per week. Since the beginning of August there have been 10,000 more deaths in homes, while the figure is 5,000 in hospitals and 1,400 in nursing homes.
