As he explained, he has not paid much attention to the pandemic in recent weeks and has not written any predictions or statistics, because what was expected happened. And the fact that the number of infected, hospitalized, and deaths began to rise sharply in Slovakia. He added that it was this condition that could have been averted, a vaccine that is not of great interest at present. It was enough to vaccinate a sufficient number of people, and especially risk groups – people over 50 years. More than 720,000 people are still unvaccinated in this group.

According to Smatan, studies in other countries were also not surprising. “From every country where data is available, we see that vaccination is the most effective tool for protecting the population. It doesn’t matter if it is Germany, Singapore, USA or Slovakia. Vaccination reduces the risk of hospitalization or death of the person, ” Smatana explained, adding that new studies show that the third dose of vaccination is very effective in vulnerable groups of people. Namely, at risk groups of the population, such as elderly or chronic patients, the antibodies after coronavirus vaccination have dropped significantly after some time, and a third dose of the vaccine is highly recommended for these groups. It is currently also served in Slovakia.

Smatana also pointed out that protection after vaccination will probably be better than that after overcoming. Indeed, information has emerged from several quarters that those who have overcome the coronavirus and subsequently been vaccinated will be the best. However, many did not want to be vaccinated after overcoming the coronavirus. A British study showed that up to a quarter of those who overcame the disease did not have enough antibodies. The production of antibodies depends on many factors, such as how strong a person has been.

According to Smatan, all this is important information for setting up pandemic measures, but even that will not help the already known – those countries with low population vaccination experience an enormous pressure on hospitals and funerals during the delta wave. In recent days, however, Smatana has been stopped by other information. And the fact that in the Czech Republic there were more vaccinated victims than unvaccinated in one day. “Yes, most of the dead in the Czech Republic were vaccinated that day. However, when it is converted to the number of vaccinated, we find that the opposite is true. However, this is no longer mentioned in the article, which is why several disinformers have caught on. What is the truth?” he thought.

He explained that 549 people had died in the Czech Republic since the beginning of September, of which 239 had been vaccinated and 302 had not been vaccinated, with 90 percent of deaths in the last 30 days and 99 percent of victims being over 65 years old. Another fact is that 84.5 percent of the population over the age of 65 were fully vaccinated and 14.8 percent of people did not receive a single dose.

“The death rate per 100,000 population, calculated on vaccinated and non-vaccinated: 65 – 69: 0.2 vaccinated vs 4 non-vaccinated (20-fold difference), 70-74: 2.8 vaccinated vs 207.6 vaccinated (73-fold difference), 75 – 79: 29.2 vaccinated vs 258.2 non-vaccinated (8.9 fold difference), 80+: 31.3 vaccinations vs 43.9 non-vaccinated (1.4 fold difference)… in proportion, unvaccinated people die many times more, as is the case in other countries, “ Smatana warned. In conclusion, he noted that if it is pointed out that more vaccinated than unvaccinated people die in the Czech Republic after coronavirus infection, this is a breeding ground for disinformers who like to catch such a report. “It unnecessarily polarizes society and creates an atmosphere of mistrust and fear,” concluded.
