Eddie Howe has become the new coach of the English football club Newcastle United.

The forty-three-year-old helmsman signed a contract until the summer of 2024.

In the team from St. James’s Park is also home to the Slovak national team goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka.

Howe replaced Steve Bruce, who left the club on October 30 by mutual agreement with the new owners, led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) from Saudi Arabia.

“Magpies” was led by Bruce’s former assistant Graeme Jones in Saturday’s match in Brighton (1: 1).

Newcastle has not yet won this season and is in the penultimate place of the scoreboard ahead of Norwich with five points out of eleven duels.

Howe’s main goal will be to keep the team in the Premier League. After the deal closed, the new owners announced that they wanted to win the league title within ten years.

“Newcastle United is excited to confirm Eddie Howe as the new head coach with a contract until the summer of 2024,” the club said in a statement.

The new owners of the club originally wanted to hire Uni Emery, but Villarreal’s coach refused the offer.

That’s why they turned to the former Bournemouth football coach, who was without an engagement.

Howe managed to pull Bournemouth out of the fourth highest English competition in the Premier League and lasted five seasons among the elite.

“It is a great honor for me to become the head coach of a club with such a status and history as Newcastle United.

It is a very proud day for me and my family. It’s a great opportunity, but at the same time we have a lot of work to do and I can’t wait to start working with the players, “said Howe, who watched Saturday’s match with Brighton in the box with the directors.
