BRATISLAVA. The police have already identified a group of people who could have made media recordings from the hunting lodge, which also includes representatives of the opposition.

The chairman of the parliamentary fire safety committee, Juraj Krúpa (OĽANO), informed about it after the extraordinary meeting on Monday. Interim police president Stefan Hamran he added that the police officers passed a test of veracity. Their proceedings will also be investigated by the Office of the Inspection Service.

The police president does not consider it a mistake that investigators continued wiretapping even after they did not record the proceedings related to the poaching case. “The fact that other information is recorded that is relevant to another case does not mean that it must be destroyed,” Hamran said. Hamran also called it a common practice not to ask for the judge’s consent again. He added that the case of poaching, which was the official reason for wiretapping, was still being worked out in October last year. However, committee member Marián Saloň (Smer-SD) noted that the wiretaps did not begin until July.

As Krúpa emphasized, leaks from files have not only a political but also a criminal effect. “The Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the National Security Office, is working on new measures that should limit the leakage of such information,” he said.
