TRNAVA. The district court in Piešťany has taken into custody one of three men from the Nitra region who are accused of committing an attack on a public official and rioting during Thursday’s conflict in the Piešťany supermarket.

The Trnava police informed about it. The other two actors in the incident will be prosecuted at large. If proven guilty, they could face up to 1 to 5 years in prison.

Police intervened on Thursday, November 4, in a supermarket in Piešťany, where a group of people refused to put on respirators. According to the police police spokeswoman Zlatica Antalová, the called-in patrols repeatedly called on the members of this group to cover their upper airways or to leave the store, thus enabling other customers in peace to complete their purchase.

There was a physical conflict in which police officers were forced to use coercive means. Two police officers and one man were injured in the incident. They were all treated in hospital. According to the COVID vending machine, the Piešťany district is burgundy, and respirators in the interior are mandatory according to the decree.

The police also deal intensively with people who threaten police officers on social networks or call on others to engage in various forms of violence.

They are also investigating the criminal offenses of assaulting a public official and inciting a criminal offense. In this case, the perpetrators face imprisonment for three or two years. Threats to police officers are related to Thursday’s intervention in a supermarket in Piešťany.
