Illegal immigration: Montebourg wants to block money transfers to countries refusing to repatriate – LCI

Nationalizations, “Made in France” … In terms of economy, Arnaud Montebourg’s proposals are well known. But it is on immigration that the former Minister of the Economy, now a candidate for the presidential election, announced shock measures on the set of the Grand Jury LCI / RTL / Le Figaro, this Sunday, November 7 .

The politician, at the head of the “La Remontada” movement, therefore promises to “block all private money transfers” to countries that refuse to repatriate their nationals targeted by an expulsion measure from French territory and thus, “typing in the wallet.”

“There are 11 billion money transfers going through Western Union to all countries of origin. VSis a godsend for these countries and today we need to say: that’s enough “, he blurted out.

“For me, the abolition of visas – of Moroccan, Algerian and Tunisian nationals – does not work”, insists the former minister. This measure was announced at the end of September by Emmanuel Macron to put pressure on governments deemed uncooperative.

For the candidate, “Immigration has worked for centuries in our country. But now, we no longer know how to integrate, the machine is broken”, he declares before adding: “today, you have 100,000 measures of obligation to leave the territory for clandestine people who still cannot be executed”.

“With me, it will be integration or nothing”, warns Arnaud Montebourg. An integration that will go through “learning French, respecting the laws, recognizing the values ​​of French society and employment. You then have integration into nationality”.

In its regulations, Western Union obeys the laws in force in the states where its transfers are made. If a country prohibits the presence of the multinational, it is obliged to respect it. However, such a law must be passed in France.

Among the political leaders, the reactions were not long in coming. On Twitter, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, presidential candidate, sees it “a cruel mistake” and asks his opponent not to slip on “the murky ground.” LFI MEP Manon Aubry speaks of a “shipwreck of political opportunism.”

“Arnaud come back with us! On the left, leaving the studio”, engaged, not without humor, Sandrine Rousseau, finalist of the primary environmentalist against Yannick Jadot.
