From Monday, November 8, 2021, there will be two districts in orange, and 7 in red. A total of 34 districts will be in burgundy, and 36 will be in black. The Council of Experts proposes tightening up certain measures in response to the deteriorating situation.

In the 1st level of danger (red color) will be the districts of Bratislava I.- V., Dunajská Streda and Galanta.

In the 2nd level of danger (burgundy color) will be the districts of Bánovce nad Bebravou, Banská Štiavnica, Dolný Kubín, Gelnica, Hlohovec, Ilava, Košice I.- IV., Košice-okolie, Levice, Malacky, Myjava, Nitra, Nové Zámky, Partizánske, Pezinok, Piešťany, Prešov, Prievidza, Revúca, Rožňava, Ružomberok, Sabinov, Senec, Senica, Skalica, Trenčín, Trnava, Žarnovica, Žilina, Zlaté Moravce and the district of Zvolen.

An extraordinary central crisis staff met on Friday evening to address the complicated situation in hospitals. The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health, Zuzana Eliášová, then informed that the ministry was proposing the introduction of a local state of emergency. It should only cover the regions with the most serious epidemic situation.

“A local state of emergency would only mean a state of emergency for some regions where the situation is really serious. We are still refining all the details and will provide comprehensive information on this next week if we take such a step.” Elijah specified. Meetings of the Central Crisis Staff have been suspended and should resume once more information on the pandemic situation has been added. The meeting could take place early next week.

Bratislava had to be reassigned to the red phase due to the deteriorating situation

Bratislava must also be using the red “jokers” from Monday (November 8) in red within the COVID machine (in the first stage of danger). The reason is the deterioration of the epidemiological situation and the increase in the number of people in the city who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. This was announced by the Regional Office of Public Health (RÚVZ) Bratislava, stating that the regulation of individual measures should prevent the uncontrollable spread of the new coronavirus.

Other districts in the Bratislava region – Malacky, Pezinok and Senec, will be in burgundy color from Monday within the COVID vending machine (second level of threat). “In the case of the Senec and Pezinok districts, one available joker was used, given the level of full vaccination of persons over 50 to 65 percent. In the case of Malacky district, better local epidemiological characteristics were assessed, as well as the vaccination to 65 percent, “ explained RÚVZ.

Hygienists observe “pandemic fatigue” in humans, but call on the public to be accountable and disciplined in following the prescribed measures. They declare that they continue to carry out the necessary epidemiological investigations of all positive persons and their close contacts within the Bratislava region.

Proposals of the Council of Experts

The consortium of experts appealed to the people much stronger than last year. After only a few weeks, the situation in hospitals is at the level we saw in the second wave in the ferbuar or March. The number of positive cases is breaking records and deaths are increasing. Measures must be followed and vaccination is the only way to deal with a pandemic. However, the vaccination rate is low in Slovakia. This is one of the reasons why the Council of Experts proposes tightening up the measures.

The package of measures has yet to be evaluated by the government. Expert opinions are still needed.

Measures to save lives and maintain a functioning health system:
– restrict movement for the unvaccinated in black districts
– Introduce COVID Passports (OTPs) to enter employment from the Red District
– strongly recommend the home office from the red district to anyone who can do so
– short-term (1-2 weeks) interrupt full-time teaching in professional and black districts, where necessary
– limit the opening of establishments within 22 hours of the burgundy district
– comply with the ban on high-risk activities such as weddings, parties, discos, celebrations, sittings, social dinners with dancing in the black color of the district
– Accelerate the 3rd dose of vaccine, especially in at-risk groups and social services facilities
– increase the number of reprofiled beds
– increase the availability of monoclonal antibodies

Measures to increase vaccination of the population:
– pay a preferential PN for COVID-19 only to vaccinated persons
– intensively motivate the population for the first dose of vaccination
– Involve regional politicians, municipalities, civic and Christian communities
– consider compulsory vaccination of certain groups of the population, as they do in other EU countries
– make every effort to increase vaccination coverage, as the only tool to cope with the third wave, as well as

Suggestions for fulfilling the set measures:
